Short history

The idea of Women's Prague Cup was born in 1998, when the Czech Republic organized Women's European Lacrosse Championship. Along with the main competition, an open tournament for the other teams was organized. Second teams from England, Scotland, Wales and two Japan teams participated in the first Women's Prague Cup. Since 1998 the tournament has been played every year with various teams from USA, England, Germany and Czech Republic.

Men's Prague Cup was started later, in 2000. That year, three sons of czech neurosurgeon living in USA, Dr. Otakar Hubschmann, organized team Lacrosse Without Borders, mostly consisting of USA DI players, that came to Prague. The team played series of games against local club teams and the Czech national team. In 2001 we were happy to host two great teams, Crease Monkeys and USA West. One year later, in 2002, only young Dutch team came to play to Prague in June, because everybody headed to World Cup in Australia.

Prague Cup 2003 was the first tournament organized as joint event of women's and men's lacrosse. We believe all participants had a good time in Prague, both on fields and in the historical city downtown. Returning american team USA West won men's tournament while japan World Lacrosse Club finished unbeaten in women's tournament.
